SQUAD trials

ADVANCED RECREATION SQUAD TRIALS 2025

We are holding OPEN trials to select new members for our Advanced Recreation Squad.  

Eligible to girls aged 7-15 years & boys aged 8-13 years​

 

Cost £20 per child

​

Trials will take place on

​

Saturday 5th & 19th July from 2-3.30pm - choose one date only!
 

If selected, training times are Wednesdays from 5.50-7.50pm or 6.10-8.10pm term time only starting in September 2025

​

Gymnasts should be able to demonstrate good competency in the following skills:

  • Bridge

  • Spilts (good box/straddle splits and close to splits on at least one leg forwars

  • Cartwheel

  • Handstand

  • Chin ups or Press ups x 3​​​

We will be looking for the following physical and psychological attributes: 

 

Strong, flexible, co-ordinated, determined, hardworking, fearless, excited to learn something new who loves gymnastics!

The Trial will comprise of a group warm-up and work on all apparatus with a specific focus on Floor & Vault skills.  There will be a set of skills used to assess the gymnasts and you will be notified after the 19th July Trial is complete as to whether we are able to offer your gymnast a place in the squad.  All participants will receive some feedback from the trial to identify their strengths and areas that may help improve their progress.

Please note that not all those who participate will be offered a place in the squad as we have a limited number of spaces.  Please ensure that you manage your child's expectations so that they see the trial as a "fun" experience that will allow the Coaches to assess their current ability for suitability in the squad at this time with some feedback provided to help aid their future progress regardless of outcome.
